Office Fit-Out Ideas for Your Charity Outreach Program

Most offices are created with the same ideas in mind. You need to have a place for your office workers, an administrator and storage for files and other necessary items. These needs change slightly when you are dealing with a charity that operates an outreach program such as social work, food assistance or related outreach service. Here are a few office fit-outs that may be ideal for your charity outreach program and what to consider about each option.

Colour-Changing Lighting

You may not think of the lighting as something you can really change during your office fit-outs. The truth is, you can change it, and for charity outreach, you probably should consider it. If you offer counselling or therapy, or if you deal with people who are upset over food and other issues, then the lighting can impact that discussion. Plain lighting or fluorescent lighting can be distracting or feel cold to some people. To enhance the environment and offer something more soothing, colour-changing lighting may be a good idea. You can have this set up on LED lights that operate on a remote. The lights can appear to be traditional, and bulbs can fit into normal lamps.

Soft Seating

The seating in the different areas of the office should be a large consideration with your office fit-outs. The seating needs to be comfortable and feel more like a living room setting and less like an office. The idea is to relax the people you are offering outreach to. You want to give them an area that makes them feel at home and at ease. You can do this with sofas or with larger chairs that are inviting. The seating can be equipped with easy to clean fabric or slipcovers that can be sanitized and cleaned. This ensures it is safe for each visit and that it is comfortable for each person.

Toned-Down Restrooms

One of the things you do not want to do is have an inviting office area but an industrial cold bathroom. Keep in mind, especially in charity outreach, that you are dealing with people that need empathy and support. Going into a bathroom may be the only way for them to have an emotional or private moment. Walking into an industrial bathroom is very off-putting. Instead, consider spa-like bathrooms or bathrooms that are warm and neutral. It is comforting and more inviting.

Your contractor can schedule an appointment to discuss your ideas when you are ready. Once they have your office fit-outs in mind, they can work with you to make those ideas a reality. They can also offer options and upgrades that may be suitable for the office space and your special visitors or clients.
